چکیده

Over a period of sixteen months, twenty seven patients of iron deficiency anemia, who had failed to respond to treatment with various iron preparations containing iron polymaltose complex were encountered. Despite several reports of ineffectiveness or poor effectiveness of iron polymaltose, large number of iron preparations containing iron polymaltose are vigorously promoted by many pharmaceutical companies amongst medical practitioners and chemists. Ultimate sufferers of this commercial pursuit are poor patients of iron deficiency anemia who waste not only their money but also valuable time especially during pregnancy. It is only the educated and aware medical profession, which can protect the patient community.
